Biografia:
Doutorada em História da Cultura com a dissertação “Darwin em Portugal. Filosofia. História. Engenharia Social 1865-1914” (2 vols., 1998). É Professora da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra e Investigadora do Grupo de História e Sociologia da Ciência do CEIS20 da mesma Universidade. Os seus interesses de investigação preferenciais são: história da cultura, história da cultura científica, história das ideias, história das ideias científicas, história da medicina, história da farmácia, história das ciências da vida, sublinhando-se projectos sobre a história do corpo, a história da psiquiatria, a história da higiene e da saúde pública, a história da farmácia, dos alimentos, medicamentos e venenos, bem como a história do darwinismo em Portugal. Tem coordenado e participado em projectos de investigação nacionais e internacionais neste âmbito, alguns financiados pela FCT, FCG e Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación (Espanha). É autora / co-autora de mais de 150 publicações sob a forma de livros, capítulos de livros e artigos publicados em revistas científicas e obras colectivas em Portugal e no estrangeiro e é autora / co-autora de comunicações e conferências apresentadas em reuniões nacionais e internacionais. Integra redes de investigação internacionais. Além das teses de mestrado e doutoramento orientadas, em 2011 é orientadora /co-orientadora de onze doutoramentos e pós doutoramentos dos quais nove financiados pela FCT.

Biography:
Pereira holds a doctorate in history of culture with a dissertation entitled “Darwin em Portugal. Filosofia. História. Engenharia Social 1865-1914” [Darwin in Portugal: Philosophy, History, Social Engineering 1865-1914] (2 vols., 1998). A professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra and a researcher at the History and Sociology of Science Group CEIS20 at the same institution, her principal research interests are: the history of culture, the history of scientific culture, the history of ideas, the history of scientific ideas, the history of medicine, the history of pharmacology, the history of the life sciences (especially projects on the history of the body), the history of psychiatry, the history of hygiene and public health, and the history of pharmaceuticals, nutrition, medicine, and poisons, as well as the history of Darwinism in Portugal. Pereira has coordinated and participated in projects at national and international levels in these areas, some of which were financed by the FCT, FCG, and the Ministry of Science and Innovation in Spain. Author and co-author of more than a hundred and fifty publications in the form of books, book chapters, and articles published in scientific journals and other collections both in Portugal and abroad, Pereira has also authored and co-authored statements and conference presentations at national and international conferences. She is also part of international research networks. Her supervision of thesis work at both masters and doctoral level since 2011 has seen her as advisor or co-advisor of eleven doctorates or post-doctorates, of which nine were financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology.
