Biografia:
Catarina Silva licenciou-se em Engenharia Eletrotécnica e obteve o mestrado e o doutoramento em Engenharia Informática na Universidade de Coimbra em 1997, 2000 e 2009, respetivamente. É professora no Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, Portugal, desde 1997. É também investigadora no Grupo de Computação Adaptativa do Centro de Informática e Sistemas da Universidade de Coimbra. Os seus interesses de investigação incluem sistemas inteligentes, aprendizagem computacional e as suas aplicações, especialmente classificação de texto, e desenvolvimento de aplicações móveis. É autora e coautora de vários livros, artigos de revista e de conferência.

Biography:
Catarina Silva graduated in electrical engineering, and received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal, in 1997, 2000, and 2009, respectively. She teaches at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Portugal since 1997. She is also a Researcher in the Adaptive Computation Group of the Centre for Informatics and Systems, University of Coimbra. Her research interests include intelligent systems, machine learning and their applications, especially text classification, and mobile application development. She is the author and co-author of several books, journal articles and conference papers.
