Biography:
Martim Portugal V. Ferreira is tenured professor of geology in the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Sciences and Technology and a member of a numerous scientific societies and academies. He was pivotal in the creation and implementation of an undergraduate programme in geological engineering, one in which the University of Coimbra was a pioneer. He has coordinated more than a hundred projects and internships in the geology and geological engineering programmes, as well as thirty-five doctoral and master’s dissertations, nine of which he advised for. He has studied, taught, and published papers in the areas of petrology, structural geology, mineral deposits, hydrogeology, geochronology, regional geology, and the history of geology.
