É licenciada em História, variante História da Arte, mestre em Museologia e Património Cultural e doutoranda em Museologia e Património Cultural na FLUC, desde 2006. Após uma breve passagem pelo Museu de Aveiro, foi bolseira de investigação científica da Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia no Museu Nacional da Ciência e da Técnica Doutor Mário Silva (2000-2006). Ali desenvolveu atividades de programação, organização, instalação, montagem e divulgação de exposições de carácter temporário junto dos diferentes públicos. No âmbito do serviço educativo, trabalhou em ateliers pedagógicos. No estudo de coleções, realizou trabalho de inventariação e acompanhamento de processos de recuperação e conservação de espólio científico e tecnológico. Encontra-se a desenvolver o estudo das coleções de Artes Plásticas (Gravura, Escultura, Desenho e Pintura), no Museu Municipal de Vila Franca de Xira.

Duarte holds a bachelors degree in history with a specialisation in art history, a masters degree in museology and cultural heritage, and has been a PhD student in museology and cultural heritage at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra since 2006. After a brief period at the Aveiro Museum, she was awarded a study grant for scientific research by the Science and Technology Foundation at the Dr. Mário Silva National Science and Technology Museum (2000-2006), where she was engaged in activities that included programming, organisation, installation, set-up, and the marketing and advertising of temporary exhibitions for different audiences. In the realm of education, she has given pedagogical workshops. In area of the study of collections, she has worked on the compilation of inventories and the supervision of conservation and recovery of scientific and technological spoils. She is presently engaged in a study of the fine arts collections (engravings, sculpture, design, and painting) at the Vila Franca de Xira Municipal Museum.
