Catarina Almeida Marado é arquitecta (1995) com Diploma de Estudios Avanzados em Urbanística e Ordenamento do Território (2003) e Doutoramento em Arquitectura pela Universidade de Sevilha (2007) com bolsa da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Tem vasta formação técnica na área da reabilitação arquitetónica e urbana. É investigadora permanente do Centro de Estudos Sociais da Universidade de Coimbra (Núcleo de Estudos sobre Cidades, Culturas e Arquitetura), professora auxiliar convidada na Faculdade de Ciências Humanas e Sociais da Universidade do Algarve (desde 2007) e professora visitante no ETSArquitectura da Universidade de Sevilha no Master en Arquitectura y Patrimonio (desde 2009). Desenvolveu investigação na área do património arquitectónico e urbano, dedicada essencialmente ao estudo da articulação entre o ordenamento do território e a salvaguarda do património. A sua tese de doutoramento, com o título "Patrimonio conventual y periferia urbana. La salvaguardia de los antiguos espacios conventuales del Algarve" (Universidad de Sevilla, 2007), centrou-se nesta temática. Entre 2012 e 2018 desenvolveu o projeto de investigação de pós-doutoramento no CES sobre "Sistemas urbanísticos portugueses de matriz conventual", financiado pela Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. No âmbito deste projeto organizou em 2013 o Colóquio internacional "Arquitetura conventual e cidade", editou "Monastic architecture and the city" - número temático da revista "Cescontexto", foi autora de um conjunto de artigos sobre este tema e do livro "Arquitetura conventual e cidade medieval: a formação e os impactos dos sistemas urbanísticos mendicantes em Portugal (séc. XIII-XV)" (Imprensa da Universidade de Coimbra, 2018). Os seus interesses de investigações são: Protecção, reabilitação e valorização do património construído; Urbanística, ordenamento do território e salvaguarda do património cultual; História da proteção do património cultural e processos de patrimonialização; Dimensão urbana da arquitetura conventual e sistemas urbanísticos conventuais numa perspectiva comparada.

Catarina Almeida Marado is an architect (1995) with a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Urban Planning and Spatial Planning (2003) and a PhD in Architecture from the University of Seville (2007) with a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He has extensive technical training in the field of architectural and urban rehabilitation. She is a permanent researcher at the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra (Center for Studies on Cities, Cultures and Architecture), visiting assistant professor at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the University of Algarve (since 2007) and visiting professor at the ETSArchitecture at the University of Seville at the Master en Arquitectura y Patrimonio (since 2009). He developed research in the area of ​​architectural and urban heritage, dedicated essentially to the study of the articulation between spatial planning and the safeguarding of heritage. His doctoral thesis, entitled "Heritage and urban periphery. The safeguarding of the ancient spaces of the Algarve" (Universidad de Sevilla, 2007), focused on this theme. Between 2012 and 2018 he developed the post-doctoral research project at CES on "Portuguese urban systems of a conventual matrix", funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology. As part of this project, in 2013 he organized the international colloquium "Conventual architecture and the city", edited "Monastic architecture and the city" - thematic issue of the magazine "Cescontexto", authored a series of articles on this theme and the book "Conventual architecture" and medieval city: the formation and impacts of begging urban systems in Portugal (13th-15th centuries) "(Press from the University of Coimbra, 2018). His research interests are: Protection, rehabilitation and enhancement of the built heritage; Urban planning, spatial planning and safeguarding cultural heritage; History of cultural heritage protection and heritage processes; Urban dimension of convent architecture and conventual urban systems in a comparative perspective.
