Paulo Filipe Monteiro teaches drama, cinema, and Fiction in the Communication Sciences Department at the New University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Social and Human Sciences. His research is affiliated with the Nova Institute of Philosophy, and he has published numerous articles and five books, the latest being <em>Drama e Comunicação </em>[“Drama and Communication”], published by the Coimbra University Press, which won the Joaquim de Carvalho Prize. He has taken part in conferences and workshops at universities in Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, England, Ireland, Brazil, and the United States of America. Paulo Filipe Monteiro has been an assistant professor at the Universities of Coimbra, Évora, Santiago de Compostela, and the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil), in addition to being former president of the Portuguese Association of Scriptwriters and Playwrights and a founding member of the Federation of European Scriptwriters. He has also remained constantly active in the creative arts: in the theatre, as a playwright, actor, and stage director, and in the cinema and in television, as a screenwriter, an actor, and more recently as a director.
